Silly Bean Soap Co. was born from a love of simple skincare, thoughtful ingredients, and life on a small family farm in the High Desert of Central Oregon. I’m Charlene, the maker behind Silly Bean Soap Co. and a former science teacher with a deep appreciation for both the beauty and the science behind handcrafted skincare. What began as a personal journey toward gentler products for my own family slowly grew into a small-batch skincare business centered around one very special ingredient: sheep milk from our flock of East Friesian dairy sheep.

At Silly Bean, I create sheep milk soaps, lotions, body butters, lip balms, and other skincare products in small batches with a focus on simplicity, quality, and ingredients that feel supportive to everyday skin. My approach is rooted in the belief that skincare does not need to be complicated to be meaningful.

The name “Silly Bean” comes from a nickname I lovingly used for my three children, and that same sense of warmth, care, and family continues to shape the heart of the business today. Life on the farm is busy and beautifully imperfect. Between caring for sheep, family life, and running the studio, I understand the value of routines that are practical, comforting, and realistic for real people. That philosophy carries into every product I make. Silly Bean Soap Co. is intentionally boutique in feel — thoughtfully crafted, gently educational, and inspired by the belief that caring for your skin can be both simple and meaningful.
